Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior SQL Server Database Administrator to join our team at Dimension Data. As a key member of our Data Services Business Unit, you will be responsible for providing expert-level support and guidance to our clients in achieving their strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide database administration, maintenance, performance tuning, security, and troubleshooting services to multiple client environments.
  • Consult with clients on complex information technology challenges and provide strategic recommendations for database solutions.
  • Develop and maintain best practices database documentation and ensure compliance with company standards and policies.
  • Work closely with the DBA team, software development, project management, QA, and system admin teams to ensure seamless delivery of services.
  • Research and evaluate new database trends and technologies and provide recommendations for implementation.
  • Design, evaluate, and recommend best practices for database models and architecture.
  • Manage standards and strategies for security, database objects, and backup/recovery.
  • Monitor capacity and performance, troubleshoot, and proactively resolve a wide variety of problems.
  • Establish and maintain standards, procedures, and automation strategies for tools and monitoring.
  • Participate or lead development of smaller projects and ensure timely delivery.
  • Contribute to the team's development process and mentor less experienced members in technology and processes.
  • Keep abreast with the latest developments in database technologies and share knowledge with the team.
  • Provide on-call and 24x7 DBA support as required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6+ years' experience in Microsoft SQL Server technologies (2012 and later), having acquired the necessary certifications.
  • Bachelor's Degree with Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems as an area of specialization or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, clear and logical thinking, and a team player with excellent communication skills.
  • ITIL Foundation certification and knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.
  • Understanding of Managed Services, project management concepts, and specialized presentation skills to a senior/strategic audience.
  • Development skills in SQL, including report writing and SSIS package development, and applications development skills.
  • Azure experience, setup, configuration, and troubleshooting, and SQL 2019 DBC experience.
