We are looking for a highly experienced Tooling and Design Director to lead our tooling and design function at Defy Appliances. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive tooling and design strategy aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  2. Develop and implement a comprehensive tooling and design strategy to drive business growth and efficiency.">
  3. Lead and manage the tooling and design team, promoting a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.">
  4. Oversee the development of high-precision tools, dies, and fixtures to meet production and quality requirements.">
  5. Lead the design, testing, and validation of tooling, dies, and molds for new and existing products.">
  6. Ensure tooling solutions meet required specifications, tolerances, and performance standards.">
  7. Utilize CAD/CAM software to develop detailed designs and ensure manufacturability.">
  8. Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot and resolve tooling-related challenges.">
  9. Oversee the maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of tooling to ensure optimal performance and longevity.">
  10. Implement predictive and preventive maintenance programs for tooling assets.">
  11. Identify opportunities for design improvements, cost reductions, and efficiency gains.">
  12. Work closely with R&D and product development teams to support new product introductions.">
  13. Coordinate with procurement and suppliers for tool manufacturing, modifications, and material selection.">
  14. Partner with quality teams to ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.">
  15. Develop and manage the tooling and design budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions.">
  16. Evaluate and approve tooling investments based on return on investment (ROI) and long-term business impact.">
  17. Drive cost reduction initiatives in tooling design, materials, and processes.">
  18. Ensure all tooling and design processes adhere to industry standards, health & safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.">
  19. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and procedural requirements.">
  20. Implement and maintain ISO, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing principles in tooling operations.">
  21. Promote a culture of safety and risk mitigation within the tooling department.">
  22. Identify and implement strategies to inspire and foster a positive team culture.">
  23. Provide support for ad-hoc projects and headquarters initiatives to drive organizational success.">

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

">
  • ">
  • A qualified tool jig & die maker qualification.">
  • At least 10 years of experience in tooling design, manufacturing, and maintenance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.">
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX).">
  • Strong knowledge of die-making, mold design, machining, and manufacturing processes.">
  • Expertise in materials selection and heat treatment for tooling applications.">
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in high-volume manufacturing industries such as automotive, aerospace, consumer goods, or heavy engineering.">
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.">
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.">
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.">
  • Ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.">
