Job Description:
The Technical Support and Maintenance Expert will be responsible for providing technical support to end-users, troubleshooting and resolving issues, and maintaining the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, including hardware and software problems.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support to end-users, including assistance with system usage and troubleshooting.
- System Maintenance: Perform routine system maintenance tasks, including backups and updates.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other IT professionals to ensure smooth system integration.
Qualifications and Experience:
NQF 6/ND Information Technology or similar qualification required. A minimum of 3 years' experience in all aspects of professional systems administration in a Linux/Unix environment is essential. Experience in a scientific/academic environment is preferred, with some exposure to Microsoft Windows Server and services.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Scripting and Automation: Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash and Python to automate tasks for system backup and monitoring.
- Linux: Working knowledge of Linux operating systems such as Ubuntu, CentOS, and Linux command line tools.
- Networking: Working knowledge of network technologies such as TCP/IP stack, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, and load balancing to configure and troubleshoot network-related issues.
