Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced HSEQ Manager to join our team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and monitoring all HSE management systems, including HSE guidelines, objectives and practices.

This role requires a strong understanding of relevant HSE legislation and environmental regulations, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and monitor HSE management systems, including HSE guidelines, objectives and practices.
  • Schedule and execute audits to identify areas of improvement and implement measures as required.
  • Carry out risk assessments on a continuous basis and provide HSE training, awareness and induction to staff, contractors and other relevant parties.
  • Engage with staff, contractors and other relevant parties with respect to HSE matters, including keeping HSE statistical records and updating systems.
  • Compile monthly site HSE reports and have first-line responsibility for incident investigations, including investigating, making initial recommendations and putting measures in place to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Assist Engineering Manager to implement accident-prevention and environmental impact activities, including compiling an annual Audit Plan and submitting it to manager for approval.
  • Manage and maintain the HSE Reporting (CRM) system and conduct trend analysis of incidents.
  • Participate in developing HSEQ CoP's, Policies, Standards and Procedures, while maintaining effective self-management in alignment with Motorecuit values and leadership initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant HSE legislation and environmental regulations.
  • Highly effective verbal communication skills, including influencing without depending on positional authority.
  • Very good written communication skills; clear expression of ideas or information.
  • Good inter-personal skills; able to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, to accomplish organizational goals and identify and resolve problems.
  • Five years' experience as a Safety/Risk Officer and experience in HSEQ Auditing.
