Job Description: The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for banking, petty cash and cashiers duties, maintenance of supplier's entity information/database on BAS (Basic Accounting System), and journals. They will also need to have a good understanding and knowledge of basic financial operating systems, financial accounting processes, and public finance management.
Required Skills and Qualifications: To be considered for this position, applicants must have a Senior Certificate (Grade 12 or equivalent qualification) with Accounting or Mathematics as passed subjects. Relevant experience in a financial environment is also required.
Key Performance Areas: The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for:
- Banking
- Petty cash and cashiers duties
- Maintenance of supplier's entity information/database on BAS (Basic Accounting System)
- Journals
Knowledge and Skills: The successful candidate will require:
- A good understanding and knowledge of basic financial operating systems (such as BAS)
- Financial accounting processes
- Public Finance Management Act, National and Provincial Treasury Regulations, and other financial policies, prescripts and directives
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Proven computer literacy in MS Office Packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Numeracy and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
