Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Production Pharmacist to join our team at Aspen Pharma Group in Port Elizabeth.

About the Role

This is a critical position responsible for ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and statutory requirements in pharmaceutical manufacturing.

  • Monitor manufacturing processes to guarantee adherence to guidelines, procedures, and document controls.
  • Deliver expected productivity targets as per business requirements and perform related administrative tasks.
  • Serve as backup to the Team Leader on shift.
Key Responsibilities
  • Planning and Procedures
    • Plan and prioritize daily, weekly, and monthly activities to optimize resource utilization.
    • Determine and request resources/assets optimally to meet business needs.
  • Inspections and Verifications
    • Verify Schedule 5 products to ensure quality standards.
    • Verify certified clean status of rooms and equipment to maintain a safe working environment.
    • Review and approve verification of measuring equipment performance, calibrations, and sampling, and dispensing of materials.
  • Line & Production processing
    • Perform, review, and approve line sign-ons, closures, and clearance authorizations.
    • Perform, review, and approve batch reconciliations to product specifications and quality.
    • Ensure production process adherence to standards and specifications.
  • Process and system improvements
    • Manage, review, and approve change control programs and deviations/concessions comply to standards and specifications.
    • Manage and resolve customer complaints efficiently.
    • Optimize processes and identify gaps in policies/procedures.
  • Compliance & Auditing
    • Perform and review shift GMP checks, environmental checks, and agent expiry dates to maintain compliance.
    • Verify good document practice as per SOP and regulation.
    • Verify the identity of bulk product and printed packaging materials, and conduct intermix checks to assess uniformity.
    Requirements
    • BPharm Degree required.
    • At least 1-3 years' related work experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
    Salary Estimate

The estimated salary for this role is approximately R550,000 - R650,000 per annum, based on industry standards and location. This figure may vary depending on individual qualifications and experience.
