Main Purpose of Job

To deliver high-quality patient care in the field of renal disease treatment and education, adhering to the Scope of Practice and Renal Care policies and standard procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with a multi-professional team to provide comprehensive patient care.
  2. Identify and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
  3. Create a positive patient experience by establishing a conducive environment.
  4. Accurately record all patient interventions.
  5. Develop a learning environment that fosters staff competence.
  6. Ensure accurate charging of utilised stock and equipment.
Required Education and Experience

Essential Education: Degree/Diploma in Clinical Technology (Nephrology)

Desired Education: None

Essential Minimum Experience: Clinical technologist (Nephrology) registered with the HPCSA with a minimum of 2 years Dialysis experience

Desired Experience: Clinical technologist (Nephrology) registered with the HPCSA

  • Acute dialysis treatment
  • Basic Life Support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS training for specialised wards)
  • Billing procedures
  • Chronic dialysis treatment
  • Clinical record keeping, procedures, and protocols
  • Computer literacy: MS Office and Dialysis Programme
  • Dialysis machine and water purification system operation
  • Infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols
