Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Aquaculture Operations Specialist who will have prime responsibility for planning, directing, and coordinating all operational and production activities of the plants.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Business Strategy and Policy Development : Contributes to the business strategy and ensures the translation to mid-term strategy and policy for the OpCo. Develops and implements policies, systems, processes, procedures, and controls covering all areas in scope (Safety, Quality, Compliance, Environment, and Labour relationship and agreement), in line with relevant standards and policies.
  2. Planning and Execution : Formulates the annual plan and budget for the OpCo, acquires approval, and monitors performance versus the budget and annual plans by giving direction to and exercising control over the operations. Ensures the implementation of the year plan and strategy/policy, manages operational activities in the OpCo, within applicable standards and procedures, to achieve efficient and effective execution and delivery of results.
  3. Leadership and People Management : Provides leadership to the area, setting individual objectives, reviewing performance, and providing ongoing feedback on an informal basis. Manages and coaches a team of professionals, motivates employees through sincere and concrete feedback, takes appropriate action when needed, stimulates team cooperation and mobility, and ensures that managers and staff are deployable (quantitatively and qualitatively) and willing to and capable of realizing set objectives.
  4. Reporting : Provides insights regarding quantitative and qualitative results and developments by means of periodical and ad hoc reports and/or analyses, based on reporting guidelines, so that adequate management information is available on the current production status, enabling management and/or other stakeholders to make timely decisions and determine or adjust strategy. Develops and/or monitors relevant KPI's to maintain an insight into the performance of the OpCo in the assigned area against set targets and make recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  5. Quality/HSE/Environment Compliance : Assures that all activities and operations are executed in line with HSE/Quality/Environment rules, regulations, procedures, instructions, guidelines, and promotes awareness thereof, including addressing anomalies to others. Identifies and implements improvements to the OpCo's systems, processes, and practices to improve/optimize effectiveness and efficiency of the processes.
Qualifications
  1. Degree in a relevant discipline.
  2. Experience working in Operations Management Role including Supply Chain.
  3. Strong and demonstrable Leadership Skills.
  4. 'Can-do' attitude and approach – solution-focused and pragmatic.
  5. Thorough knowledge of regulations concerning safety and quality standards.
  6. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  7. Fluent Japanese (Native level) and business English.
