As a Cloud Database Specialist at Advania, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality technical support to our customers using our data platforms service.

Your responsibilities will include providing expert technical assistance to end users, responding to customer queries, and managing incidents or requests allocated to you or the team ticket queue.

To succeed in this role, you will need to have strong knowledge of database management systems, experience deploying SQL Server IaaS, and proficiency in designing and implementing HA and DR database service technologies.

You will also be responsible for developing and implementing data security policies, procedures, and best practices to protect sensitive information, identifying and resolving database performance issues, and conducting database capacity planning to anticipate future storage and performance needs.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Providing expert technical assistance to end users focusing on data platforms and services.
  • Responding promptly and effectively to customer queries.
  • Managing incidents or requests allocated to you or the team ticket queue, ensuring professional resolution or escalation.
  • Applying accurate troubleshooting techniques and asking targeted questions.
  • Contributing fully as an active team member and achieving personal and team objectives.
  • Offering mentorship and guidance to junior members of the Data Platforms team.
  • Maintaining professional relationships with clients and peers.
  • Utilizing excellent customer service skills to exceed customer expectations.
  • Reporting potential client-facing risks and customer feedback.
  • Developing a personal development plan with your line manager.
  • Undertaking assigned tasks by management.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following requirements:

  • Microsoft Azure SQL support knowledge is essential.
  • You should have strong knowledge of database management systems like Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience deploying SQL Server IaaS and Azure data services components (Azure SQL DB, Managed Instance, Data Factory) is required.
  • You must be proficient in AlwaysOn Availability configuration design and implementation, Failover clustering, log shipping, replication, etc., for HA and DR database service technologies in IaaS and PaaS (Azure-based) SQL deployments.
  • Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and optimizing database performance is necessary.
  • Develop and implement data security policies, procedures, and best practices to protect sensitive information.
  • Identify and resolve database performance issues like slow queries, inefficient indexing, or resource contention.
  • Conduct database capacity planning to anticipate future storage and performance needs.
  • Implement and maintain database monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Create comprehensive documentation of database systems, including schema, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Generate regular reports on database performance, usage, and security compliance for management and stakeholders.
