Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will perform diagnostic testing procedures, review and verify results, and interact with pathologists on technical matters. They will also operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure efficient operation and accurate results.

Accountabilities
  • Perform diagnostic testing procedures, review and verify results, and interact with pathologists on technical matters.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure efficient operation and accurate results.
  • Implement sound housekeeping procedures and work effectively as a team member to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Report incidents, including instrument failures, problem solutions, and read documents and actions tasks on the laboratory information management system.
  • Attend training and seminars and participate in continuing professional development activities to update knowledge and skills.
  • Perform on-site training of laboratory staff, interns, students, medical colleagues, and associated health workers in laboratory techniques, processes, and systems.
  • Represent the organization by applying the principles of customer care in the medical pathology field.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12
  • National diploma in Biomedical Technology
  • Registration in relevant discipline with HPCSA

Experience:

Relevant Job Knowledge:

  • Anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to medical pathology
  • Laboratory information systems
  • Laboratory standards operating procedures and processes
  • Medical ethical guidelines in the medical pathology fields
  • Organisational policy procedures
