HandPicked Recruitment is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Project Manager to oversee large-scale commercial solar projects from inception to completion. Our ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in the solar industry, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record of delivering projects on time, within scope, and on budget.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and project specifications. This role requires exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills to manage multiple stakeholders and ensure seamless execution of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivering PV installation projects from execution to completion, including site establishment to commissioning.
  • Project planning: assisting in developing project plans, schedules, and budgets in coordination with senior management.
  • Site management: overseeing on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and project specifications.
  • Contractor coordination: liaising with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment, resolve issues, and manage subcontractor performance.
  • Progress monitoring: monitoring project progress, identifying potential delays or obstacles, and implementing corrective actions to keep projects on track.
  • Quality assurance: conducting inspections and quality checks to ensure workmanship meets project requirements and industry standards.
  • Budget management: assisting in tracking project expenses, monitoring costs, and identifying opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Documentation: maintaining accurate project documentation, including daily, weekly, and monthly reports, change orders, and correspondence with stakeholders.
Requirements
  • 4+ years working experience within a solar, electrical, and/or construction industry.
  • Tertiary education in a relevant field would be highly beneficial.
  • Experience working on simultaneous projects/sites at a time, dealing with sub-contractors (from inception to handover).
  • Travelling to various sites (rotation of sites).
  • Excellent communication skills on all levels.
  • Computer literate (emails and excel).
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, techniques, and materials.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
What We Offer

A competitive salary of R750,000 - R950,000 per annum, depending on experience.
