Job Opportunity: Maintenance Fitter

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our team at the Durban Tea Factory. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of our high-speed packaging equipment and other machinery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform mechanical breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance
  • Plan and execute plant shutdowns
  • Conduct root cause analysis and recommend improvements
  • Record maintenance data on Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Assist with equipment commissioning and implement continuous improvement projects
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards and promote safe working practices
Requirements:
  • 10 years of experience with high-speed packaging machinery
  • N3 in Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechanical Fitter Trade Test
  • Proficient in welding (TIG & Arc) and machining (lathe, surface grinder, milling)
  • Strong fault-finding skills and knowledge of maintenance systems (CMMS)
  • Experience in plant maintenance and problem-solving
  • Basic design and fabrication of steel structures
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies
  • Valid drivers license and own transport (available for shift work)
