Key Performance Indicators

The successful Field Telecoms Technician will be responsible for maintaining network clusters and regions within a 24/7 availability model to ensure maximum network uptime.

Main Tasks
  1. Respond promptly to all alarms related to RAN, transmission, power, and RF systems.
  2. Perform fault finding, troubleshooting, fault analysis, and reporting, including site investigations to identify and resolve issues.
  3. Execute full scope corrective maintenance, addressing faults and alarms on masts and rooftops.
  4. Complete work orders allocated within network SLA and quality standards.
  5. Develop effective relationships with onsite landlords.
  6. Ensure site information is up-to-date.
  7. Supervise third-party personnel when required.
  8. Activate and deactivate services on-site as needed.
  9. Prioritize preventive maintenance and planned maintenance execution to minimize downtime.
  10. Escalate site security incidents and complete required SAPS case number reporting.
  11. Deploy, connect, recover, and refuel mobile generators as necessary.
  12. Verify new site acceptance and approval before activation.
  13. Manage spare parts and boot spares according to network process and procedures.
Requirements
  1. National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  2. N4 or higher qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  3. S3 or higher qualification in Electronic Engineering.
  4. Electrical Trade Test certificate.
  5. BTech in Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering.
  6. A minimum of 5 years' experience in telecoms corrective maintenance on domestic mobile networks.
  7. Proven experience working with specialized testing equipment (Site Master, 3ZAligner, Pim Test, Power Meters, etc.).
  8. Experience working with industrial mobile generators.
  9. High-level computer literacy.
  10. Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
