Main Responsibilities:

As a Mechanical Engineer at ATripleA Recruitment and Temps, you will be responsible for the effective compilation of proposals and tenders, as well as providing cost-effective, compliant, and safe engineering, design, and construction support for projects in the Mining/Minerals and Water market segments. Your key performance areas will include delivering engineered packages within budget, schedule, and quality standards, managing hours, budgets, and changes, and ensuring projects are executed in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.

Key Performance Areas:

• Deliver high-quality engineered packages within budget, schedule, and quality standards.
• Provide fit-for-purpose engineering and design services across various industry segments.
• Effectively manage hours, budgets, and changes to enhance gross profits on projects.
• Ensure project execution aligns with relevant client and company policies, procedures, and frameworks.
• Provide construction, installation, and commissioning project support.
• Generate and develop equipment cost estimates, man-hour estimates, and proposal documentation.
• Assist with pricing tenders and bids for various market sectors.
• Liaise with clients to assess their needs, propose solutions, and provide cost estimates and proposal submittals.
• Create scope of work specifications defining work included, excluded, and battery limits, along with technical requirements for each equipment package.
• Compile technical enquiry packages, conduct technical tender evaluations, and compile technical ‘Approved for Purchase’ packages.
• Manage and interface with vendors and contractors to meet project objectives.
• Conduct progress inspections, FATs, and final releases for vendor and supplier equipment.
• Review vendor and supplier documentation for compliance with technical requirements.
• Maintain effective inter-discipline integration with other disciplines, including process, piping, civil, structural, C&I, and electrical departments.
• Provide detailed input to plant reviews regarding layout, equipment placement, maintainability, operability, and related factors.
• Contribute to the development and optimization of mechanical drawings and drive their development through the design and drawing office.
• Provide input during project meetings, HAZOPS, client meetings, and other relevant events.
• Perform functional designs for pumps, piping, plate work, structures, supports, and other minor and medium-complexity items, and liaise with specialist consultants for more complex items.
• Maintain and update the mechanical equipment list and other related registers and schedules.
• Execute all work in compliance with relevant legislation, codes, standards, company policies, and procedures.
• Provide office-based construction and commissioning support and, as required, attend site visits during the construction period.

Requirements:

• Attention to detail and excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Results-driven with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience in related work within the Mining/Minerals/Water projects environment.
• Experience with a wide range of mechanical equipment, including pumps, cranes, hoists, compressed air systems, tanks, vessels, fire water systems, fans, screens, membrane technologies, settling tanks, mixers, aerators, blowers, and others.
• Working experience in feasibility studies and project execution is required, with site-based experience during construction and/or commissioning highly recommended.
• Strong discipline-specific engineering skills and a degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.Sc./B.Eng or B.Tech) are mandatory.
