About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Pavement Infrastructure Specialist to join our team at Sydsen Uthintane (Pty) Ltd. This is an exciting opportunity for a Transportation Design Expert to contribute to the development of innovative infrastructure solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and evaluate pavement structures for various transportation projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Conduct site investigations and assessments to determine soil and material properties, informing design decisions and construction processes.
  • Utilize advanced pavement design software to model and analyze pavement performance, predicting potential issues and optimizing designs.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop specifications, plans, and construction documents, ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Monitor construction processes to ensure compliance with design standards and specifications, identifying and addressing any deviations or issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance evaluations and develop pavement management plans, prioritizing maintenance tasks and allocating resources effectively.
  • Analyze traffic patterns and environmental impacts to inform design decisions, balancing project requirements with environmental considerations.
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders and clients, effectively communicating project progress and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, with a strong foundation in pavement design and construction principles.
  • Registered as a Candidate Engineer with ECSA, with Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in pavement engineering, with a solid portfolio of completed projects and a proven track record of success.
  • Proficiency in advanced pavement design software, such as AASHTO, KENPAVE, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of materials, construction methods, and pavement management systems, with a focus on sustainable and cost-effective solutions.
  • Excellent project management skills, including planning, budgeting, and scheduling, with the ability to lead and motivate project teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders, and present complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
