The Role

We seek a seasoned Project Management Lead to spearhead project delivery across Sub-Saharan Africa. This role will evolve a robust and scalable project management framework incorporating best practices, systems, and processes.

The primary function of this position will be to establish a robust and scalable project management practice in SSA, incorporating best-practice principles across systems, processes, and people. A secondary function will be to manage projects for other Choreograph Consulting markets requiring additional project management support.

Key Objectives:
  • Be accountable for the profitable, on-time delivery of the SSA portfolio of projects.
  • Effectively manage the capacity and utilization of the SSA delivery teams and inform resourcing decisions.
  • Define, document, and implement best-practice project and programme management processes in SSA.
  • Build a scalable and robust PMO practice across people, processes, and systems in the delivery of projects in SSA.
  • Actively participate in Choreograph Consulting's regional and global PMO community of practice, sharing strategic knowledge and case studies.
ResponsibilitiesClient-Facing SSA:
  • Evaluate project requirements, ensure proper scoping, resource allocation, and timely delivery.
  • Oversight of project delivery from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with client expectations.
  • Development and management of project delivery documentation.
  • Maintenance of dynamic project budget developments, ensuring proactive management of risks and issues.
  • Escalation of resourcing constraints to relevant internal stakeholders.
Client-Facing Other Markets:
  • Project manager for projects delivered by other markets when required.
  • Oversight of project delivery from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with client expectations.
  • Evaluation of project requirements, ensuring proper scoping, resource allocation, and timely delivery.
  • Maintenance of dynamic project budget developments, ensuring proactive management of risks and issues.
  • Escalation of resourcing constraints to relevant internal stakeholders.
Internal:
  • Management of the full portfolio of billable projects executed by the SSA market.
  • Partnership with the EMEA PMO Lead in developing a best-practice community of PMs in the region.
  • Proactive improvement of programme and project management tools and processes used by the team.
  • Hiring, managing, and supporting the development of career and succession plans for PMO team members in SSA.
  • Ensuring accurate reporting on the portfolio of active projects in SSA through regular updates of project plans and resourcing plans.
  • Liaison with finance on revenue reporting.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with the Regional PMO and other market PMOs to address resourcing constraints and issues via the Choreograph Consulting market-to-market (M2M) resource-sharing process.
  • Collaboration with the Global Operations Director to facilitate the alignment of the local market team with global operational processes and change management initiatives.
  • Support to the business development team with scope definition, project plans, costing, and insight into resources and their availability.
  • Interface between Choreograph Consulting teams and cross-functional teams from other entities for projects delivered by multiple groups.
  • Active partnership with business leadership on strategic decision-making in commercial development, client profitability, and organic growth.
  • Full value chain custodianship covering pipeline, client acquisition, and profitable delivery.
Skills and Experience Required:
  • At least 7 years' experience in managing project and programme delivery within technical or professional services environments.
  • Proven proficiency and experience working within a PMO environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Solid understanding of consulting business models.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Recognized project or programme management certification or formal training in project or programme management.
  • Robust understanding of the Sub-Saharan African business landscape.
