Job Description:

As a Dam Safety Expert, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe operation and maintenance of dams across South Africa. You will be responsible for investigating and analyzing dam safety risks, evaluating applications for new dam construction, and monitoring the safety evaluation and investigation reports.

You will work closely with regional offices, dam owners, and professional persons to ensure compliance with legislation and regulations. Your expertise will also be required to develop and maintain guidelines and policies related to dam safety.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to travel throughout South Africa, conducting site visits and inspections at dams with a safety risk. You will also be responsible for responding to emergency situations, such as dam failures, and implementing Emergency Preparedness Plans (EPPs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and analyze dam safety risks
  • Evaluate applications for new dam construction
  • Monitor safety evaluation and investigation reports
  • Develop and maintain guidelines and policies related to dam safety
  • Conduct site visits and inspections at dams with a safety risk
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as dam failures
