Job Overview

The Mechanical Foreman is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of our company's machinery, equipment, and facilities. This role involves managing the maintenance team, ensuring compliance with security, safety, health, environmental standards, and maintaining inventory of spare parts and tools.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Planning, scheduling, and supervising the maintenance and repair of our company's machinery, equipment, and facilities, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation systems.
  2. Assigning and monitoring the work of the maintenance team, ensuring quality of maintenance and timeliness of service.
  3. Training, coaching, evaluating, and monitoring the performance of the maintenance staff, providing feedback and guidance.
  4. E nsuring compliance with our company's policies and procedures, as well as local and national rules, regulations, and standards, regarding health, safety, and environmental issues.
  5. Conducting regular inspections and audits of our company's machinery, equipment, and facilities, identifying and resolving any issues or risks.
  6. Maintaining accurate and updated records of the maintenance activities, trends, costs, and inventory.
  7. Coordinating with external contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers, as needed, for the procurement and delivery of spare parts, tools, and services.
  8. Providing technical support and advice to other departments, as required, for the operation and maintenance of our company's machinery, equipment, and facilities.
  9. Reporting any near misses, incidents, accidents, risk hazards, or malfunctions to the Reliability & Engineering Manager and taking corrective and preventive actions, as necessary.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Matric or equivalent qualification.
  • A National Trade Test Fitter or Millwright certification or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in Artisan Fitter/Millwright and 5+ years of Supervisor/Foreman experience.
  • Experience in Boilers/Pumps/Conveyors.
  • Extensive experience using planned maintenance systems, especially Pragma or SAP.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

Working Conditions

This is a permanent employment opportunity in the Essential Oils industry, requiring the candidate to work onsite in Limpopo, specifically in Mokopane. A valid Code B (Car) driver's license and the ability to travel are required. The successful candidate will be provided with a salary in the range of R 50,000 - 58,000 per month.
