Job Title: Litigation Secretary
A leading law firm is seeking a highly skilled Litigation Secretary to provide administrative support to its dynamic legal team.
- Document Preparation: Assist attorneys in drafting, formatting, and proofreading legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery materials.
- Filing Court Documents: Manage the electronic and physical filing of legal documents with courts, ensuring timely submissions and compliance with court rules.
- Case File Management: Organize and maintain case files, including correspondence, legal documents, and evidence, for easy access.
- Scheduling: Coordinate appointments, court appearances, depositions, and meetings for attorneys, clients, and other legal personnel.
- Client Communication: Act as a point of contact for clients, answering inquiries and providing updates on case progress as directed by attorneys.
- Court Liaison: Coordinate with court officials, including clerks and judges' chambers, to manage case filings, hearing schedules, and court appearances.
- Research: Assist attorneys with legal research, document retrieval, and compiling information relevant to the case.
- Administrative Tasks: Handle general office duties, including managing correspondence, scheduling, answering phones, and billing.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience as a litigation secretary in a law firm.
- Ability to draft and prepare High Court and Magistrates Court documents.
- Knowledge of court processes in the High Court and Magistrates Court.
- Outstanding communication and typing skills.
- Bilingual (Afrikaans and English) with a strong emphasis on English.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Experience in LegalSuite.
- Ability to pay attention to detail, work independently and under pressure.
