Job Title: Senior Financial Accountant

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Accountant to join our team at Silk Road Consulting (Pty) Ltd. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and providing financial reporting and analysis to support business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • **Corporate Accounting Functions:**
    • Oversee all accounting functions, including cashbook processing, debtor management, and general accounting functions.
    • Ensure daily cashbook reconciliations are up to date and accurate.
    • Update the Fixed Asset Register on a monthly basis.
    • Review and analyze debtor and creditor accounts.
    • Capture correct journal entries in accounting records for reporting purposes.
    • Review monthly reconciliations and accounting files.
    • Prepare and review trial balance for monthly reporting.
    • Balance intercompany loan accounts.
    • Review debtor and creditor age analysis.
    • Consolidate the ledgers of six companies for reporting purposes.
  • **Controls and Statutory Requirements:**
    • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, including income tax, provisional tax, VAT, employment taxes, dividend withholding taxes, and submission of annual financial statements to the Financial Sector Conduct Authority.
    • Obtain and maintain up-to-date tax clearance certificates.
    • Register new employees with the relevant tax authorities.
  • **Reporting:**
    • Prepare an annual budget for approval by the Chief Financial Officer.
    • Provide monthly updates of the budget and forecast.
    • Report on monthly variances between actual and forecasted income and expenses.
    • Facilitate the annual financial audit and ensure the company receives an unmodified audit report.
  • **Expenses/Suppliers Cycle:**
    • Ensure timely payment of suppliers.
    • Verify bank accounts before making payments.
    • Authorize all invoices before submission for payment.
    • Monitor expenses against budget.
  • **Other:**
    • Load daily client CCM payments.
    • Prepare various statutory returns, including those with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission, Compensation Commissioner, and Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment.
    • Perform other tasks as needed to support the finance team and the broader business.

Requirements:

  • BCom Financial Accounting degree.
  • SAIPA registration.
  • SAIPA articles completed in an audit firm.
  • Proficiency in Xero and e-filing.
