Job Overview

Nedbank is seeking a highly skilled Africa Infrastructure Finance Expert to join its team in South Africa.

This role presents an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional to leverage their expertise in project finance, PPPs, and concession-backed debt, equity, and quasi-equity financing transactions.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for originating and implementing profitable specialized Project Finance, PPPs, and Concession Backed debt, equity, and quasi-equity financing transactions in various South African and selected rest of Africa jurisdictions and sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders through effective networking, collaboration, regular communication, and compliance with governance and controls.
  • Foster external stakeholder relationships through networking, conferencing, maintaining regular contact, ongoing communication, site visits, and pitching ideas.
  • Contribute to a culture conducive to transformation goals by participating in Nedbank Culture building initiatives, such as staff surveys.
  • Research and make recommendations for corporate citizenship initiatives within the area of influence.
  • Participate and support corporate responsibility initiatives aligned with business strategy (e.g., Green Strategy).
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes, models, and systems by recommending effective ways to operate and adding value to Nedbank.
  • Ensure compliance with sanctions checking and adherence to FICA, Internal, and Environmental regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Execute credit approval processes by rating, pricing, analyzing, application, constructive communication, and consultation.
  • Manage deal implementation by structuring, negotiating, attending to legal matters, and Conditions precedent (CP).
  • Maintain ongoing risk management by reviewing risk annually, assessing performance, undertakings, client visits, and engaging with Transaction and Credit.
  • Enhance team performance by providing on-the-job training, knowledge sharing, and identifying suitable formal and informal training.
  • Engage in non-deal specific projects by providing expert advice and training, testing, and implementing.
  • Originate transactions by scanning the market, marketing, and pitching ideas, and networking.
  • Execute transactions by structuring, analyzing, negotiating, managing, and pitching the deal.
  • Manage costs and contribute to Business Unit cost efficiency by operating within the allocated budget.
  • Support the achievement of business strategy, objectives, and values by reviewing Nedbank and Business Unit Plan and ensuring delivered systems, processes, services, and solutions are aligned.
  • Improve personal capability and stay up-to-date with developments in the field of expertise by identifying training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from managers.
  • Educate and enable skilling and corrective action by sharing knowledge and industry trends with the team and stakeholders during formal and informal interaction.
  • Obtain buy-in for developing new and/or enhanced processes that will improve the functioning of stakeholders' businesses by highlighting benefits in support of the implementation of recommendations.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Chartered Accountant (SA), Chartered Financial Analyst, Masters Degree in Commerce, Sciences, Legal or other relevant field

Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of R1,200,000 - R1,800,000 per annum, depending on experience. Additional benefits include a comprehensive medical aid scheme, pension fund contributions, and generous annual leave.
