At MECS Africa, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Operations Lead to join our operations team at the Chrome Wash Plant. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing all plant activities during your shift, ensuring safety, efficiency, and production targets are achieved.
About This RoleIn this critical role, you will lead and supervise the plant team during your shift, ensuring smooth operation of chrome processing circuits (DMS, spirals, screening). Your primary focus will be on monitoring production output and ensuring targets are met while enforcing safety and environmental compliance on shift.
You will perform equipment and area inspections, reporting any faults or incidents. Additionally, you will complete shift handovers and accurate daily production reports, supporting and training junior staff and plant operators.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise the plant team during your shift
- Ensure smooth operation of chrome processing circuits (DMS, spirals, screening)
- Monitor production output and ensure targets are met
- Enforce safety and environmental compliance on shift
- Perform equipment and area inspections; report any faults or incidents
- Complete shift handovers and accurate daily production reports
- Support and train junior staff and plant operators
We are looking for an individual with a National Certificate or Diploma in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, or a related field, accompanied by 3+ years of experience in mineral processing (preferably chrome) and 12 years in a supervisory or team-leading role.
Strong knowledge of plant operations and safety protocols is essential, along with effective leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. You should also be willing to work rotational shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
