Job Description

We are seeking a talented Graduate Data Scientist to join our team at IOCO in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing statistical analysis, forecasting, predictive modeling, simulation, and optimization to uncover trends, opportunities, and threats.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver business insights through advanced analytics, including statistical methods, segmentation, experimental design, neural networks, data mining, and optimization techniques.
  • Analyze data from multiple sources, identify patterns, and communicate findings to business users in a clear and concise manner.
  • Develop and implement models that answer key business questions or discover opportunities for improvement, increased revenue, or reduced costs.
  • Collaborate with BI Analysts, Data Scientists, and Use Case Owners to establish effective partnerships and drive business outcomes.
  • Work closely with the Data Analyst(s) to assist in answering complex business problems that require statistical analysis.

Requirements:

  • University degree in quantitative fields such as Mathematics, Statistics, Operational Research, and Economics or equivalent industry training and experience.
  • A minimum of 1 year's experience in advanced analytics, model building, and optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of data manipulation and analysis using Python and SQL skills or equivalent analytical platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of Data Warehousing and BI environments.
  • Ability to identify business problems that will have the most value to the organization if addressed through an advanced analytics solution.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive salary of R600,000 per annum (based on the location and requirements of the role).
  • A permanent contract or 12-month contract option.
  • A hybrid work environment with 4 days onsite and Fridays remote.
