Key Responsibilities:- Climate Change and Nature Strategy Development: Develop and mature our climate change and nature strategy, addressing risks and opportunities related to climate change and nature.
- Ambitions and Integration: Develop mechanisms to increase climate and nature-related ambitions, integrating these into our Group Strategy.
- Net-Zero Commitments: Own and drive our Net-Zero Transition plan, developing sector glidepaths and establishing key baseline measures for progress monitoring.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build understanding of complex technical issues related to climate change and nature impacts, developing strategic partnerships and alliances.
- Research: Conduct research on global and domestic climate change and nature developments, monitoring regulatory, legislative, systemic, and strategic changes.
- Reporting and Training: Input into TCFD and TNFD, input into stakeholder reports, and build and deliver climate change- and nature-related training programs.
- General: Implement and coordinate special cross-cutting projects, contributing to a culture conducive to achieving transformation goals.
- Essential: Bachelor's degree in science, environmental management, climate science, or related field.
- Preferred: Post Graduate qualification in environmental management, sustainability, environmental economics, or climate science.
- Registered: Registered with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professionals.
- Over 10 years: Professional climate and nature operational or consulting experience.
- Management: Management of or involvement in a net-zero transition plan.
- Stakeholder Engagement: 3-5 years of stakeholder engagement experience, including business, NGOs, academia, and governments.
- Financial Services: Experience in financial services, sustainable finance, or strategy consulting; global organization experience advantageous.
- Carbon Accounting: Carbon accounting methodologies.
- Carbon Footprinting: Carbon, water, and nature-related footprinting.
- Climate Risk: Climate risk and opportunities.
- South African Legislation: Knowledge of South Africa's climate and nature-related legislation.
- Carbon Mitigation: Understanding of carbon mitigation mechanisms.
- Decision Making: Decision making.
