Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Piping Engineer to lead our piping engineering team in the mining industry.

  • Coordinate and supervise design functions within a project context.
  • Ensure designs meet project requirements and company objectives, produced in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, complying with WOOD Health, Safety and Environmental HSE policies.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate piping engineering effort within the project team to meet schedule and budget.
  • Assist project engineering manager with manpower forecasting.
  • Define discipline assurance actions and criticality assessment.
  • Prepare technical specifications, calculations, reports, and design criterion.
  • Responsible for piping engineering content, discipline design drawings, and technical documents.
  • Produce designs according to project, discipline, statutory regulations, good practice, and company procedural requirements.
  • Maintain a project filing system used by all design personnel.
  • Provide engineering input into PFD's, P&ID's, line lists, valve lists, and SPI lists.
  • Ensure designs support construction methods and ease of plant maintenance and operations.
  • Maintain adherence to piping design engineering standards on all projects.
  • Provide technical guidance to project staff on various aspects of design.
  • Review installation contract tenders and produce technical adjudications/recommendations.
  • Review and comment on design documents and drawings from own discipline and other disciplines.
  • Review vendor documentation for compliance with project/specifications.
  • Compare procurement costs against budget and provide feedback to estimating.

  • Provide feedback on design systems used in design.
  • Assist with plant installation and commissioning of piping.
  • Liaise with client to ensure design meets agreed requirements.
  • Liaise with site construction staff on resolution of piping engineering design issues.
  • Conduct regular piping engineering/design group meetings within a project context.
  • Provide timely reports regarding discussions held and progress made.
  • Provide input into progress reports, listing achievements and highlighting issues as required.
  • Provide engineering support to construction team during plant installation and commissioning of piping systems.
