We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Diverse Consulting Solutions (Pty) Ltd. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative mechanical solutions for automation projects.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with a focus on design and development of complex mechanical systems. You will work closely with our automation engineers to conceptualize and design purpose-built machinery, industrial equipment, and robotic welding systems.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing medium to large design projects, conducting complex design reviews, and ensuring due diligence throughout the project lifecycle. You will also collaborate with customers, vendors, and production managers to find optimal solutions and resolve system malfunctions.

We are looking for a self-motivated and highly organized individual who is able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. You will be responsible for creating and assisting with complex project quotations, planning and leading design projects, and coaching and mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop innovative mechanical solutions for automation projects
  • Manage medium to large design projects, including conceptualization, design, and development
  • Conduct complex design reviews and ensure due diligence throughout the project lifecycle
  • Collaborate with customers, vendors, and production managers to find optimal solutions and resolve system malfunctions
  • Create and assist with complex project quotations
  • Plan and lead design projects, including resource allocation and timelines
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers to develop their skills and knowledge
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A 4-year Mechanical Engineering degree (NFQ Level 8)
  • Significant experience in design and development of mechanical systems using SolidWorks
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and outside the box
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining high-quality results
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role will be based on your skills and qualifications, as well as your level of experience in the automation industry. Our estimates suggest that the salary range for this position is R 30,000 - R 60,000 per month, depending on your background and qualifications.
