Job Overview

SGS is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety (HSE) professional to join our team as a Business Health and Safety Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical guidance and support to our business lines on all HSE-related matters, ensuring compliance with local and global regulations, and promoting a culture of safety and excellence within our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical advice and guidance on HSE-related matters to business lines, including legal compliance, client requirements, and HSE Management Systems requirements.
  • Develop and implement HSE strategies and plans to ensure compliance with local and global regulations.
  • Conduct HSE inspections and audits to verify implementation of HSE Management Systems and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide training and support to employees on HSE-related matters, including risk assessments, incident investigations, and emergency response procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate HSE risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies, industry associations, and other stakeholders to stay informed on HSE best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct incident investigations and root cause analyses to identify and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
  • Develop and implement HSE metrics and reporting to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide support to business lines on HSE-related matters, including developing and implementing HSE policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in HSE management, with a strong background in occupational health and safety.
  • Advanced knowledge of HSE regulations, including OHS Act and Mine Act.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate HSE risks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong technical skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
