Job Description

The Civil Engineer plays a crucial role in the development and execution of renewable energy projects at Red Rocket South Africa (Pty) Ltd. Reporting to the Lead Civil Engineer, this position is responsible for managing internal civil engineering processes, external consultants, and all civil aspects of projects during the development, transaction, and execution phases.

Civil engineering responsibilities include geotechnical engineering, roads, stormwater management, foundation design, and structural aspects. The ideal candidate will have 3 years' experience in infrastructure projects, including a minimum of 1 year in renewable energy projects, 1 year in civil engineering design, and 1 year in civil construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of civil designs, drawings, and layouts for renewable energy projects
  • Procurement and appointment of civil design consultants, including LIDAR, Topographical, Geotech investigations, and hydrology/stormwater consultants
  • Liaison with external civil engineering consultants working on renewable energy projects
  • Assistance to civil site supervisors and construction managers for site civil activities
  • Ensuring that designs and installations meet client requirements and relevant safety regulations
  • Production of bid deliverables relating to civil works
  • Compilation of technical civil specifications
  • Compilation of cost estimates for financial model purposes for civil works
  • Compilation of RFP/RFQ documents for civil or BoP contractors
  • Technical evaluation and negotiations with EPC Contractors
  • Support to Project Engineers during the execution phase of projects

Required Qualifications:

  • BSc Civil Engineering/B Eng (Civil)/National Diploma (NDip) Civil Engineering
