Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing pharmaceutical care to patients, including dispensing medicines and signing off prescriptions
  • Furnishing information on medication use and ensuring accurate interpretation of scripts
  • Processing scripts and capturing script details accurately
  • Verifying patient details on the system and maintaining customer profiles

Key Responsibilities

The pharmacist will also be expected to:

  • Evaluate patient medicine-related needs and determine therapy safety and effectiveness
  • Process paperwork for claims submission and error correction
  • Facilitate bi-annual stock takes and maintain accurate stock control processes
  • Adhere to Dis-Chem policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations

Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess:

  • A Bachelor of Pharmacy degree or equivalent qualification
  • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in pharmacy, preferably retail pharmacy
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team
  • Basic dosing knowledge and understanding of important drug interactions
  • Computer literacy in MS Office
