We are seeking a highly skilled Landscape Conservation Intelligence Manager to join our team, and we invite applications from individuals who share our vision and values.

About the Job:
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development of effective landscape conservation strategies, implementing SAM models, and developing management plans for biodiversity protection. You will also be responsible for ensuring the integration of knowledge and planning systems into the landscape and protected area management, leading and managing an integrated team, facilitating strategy implementation, and reporting on progress. To be successful in this role, you will need to have an appropriate tertiary qualification in ecology and/or nature conservation, a strong ability to lead, at least 6 years' experience in the conservation sector, a proven understanding of ecological theory, and demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements:
  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in ecology and/or nature conservation: NQF level 7.
  • Strong ability to lead with a minimum of 6 years' experience in the Conservation Sector, which should include management of stakeholders, partnerships or projects.
  • A proven thorough understanding of ecological theory, ecological processes and components of biodiversity of the Western Cape.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and interface with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of multi-disciplinary team and independently.
  • Physically fit and willing and able to undertake strenuous fieldwork under varying climatic and terrain conditions.
  • Prepared to travel extensively and be away from home for periods of time.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, be competent driving long distances and 4x4 vehicles.
  • Proficiency in two of the three official languages of the Western Cape and the ability to write reports and minutes in English.
  • No criminal record.
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • A good working knowledge of GIS.
