Datacentrix is seeking a highly skilled Senior Backup Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in administering, maintaining, troubleshooting, and monitoring Rubrik and Veeam backup solutions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring robust 24/7 backup and recovery support, detecting ransomware and system anomalies using Rubrik Radar and Veeam ONE, optimizing system performance, resolving issues, and conducting post-mortem analyses. They will also review and enhance architectures, including performing upgrades and migrations.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Veeam or Rubrik Backup certification
  • 3-6 years of experience in the backup environment using Rubrik and Veeam
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, and maintaining large backup and restore environments
  • Strong knowledge and experience with backup and restore principles and design
  • Knowledge of UNIX and Microsoft operating systems as it pertains to backups and restores
  • Knowledge of SAN based backups and restores
Responsibilities:
  • Implementing backup policies at a customer site
  • Create business recovery plans, developing data backup processes, solving technical issues
  • Providing 1st and 2nd level problem management and resolution for the backup of hundreds of servers using multiple backup utilities, tape libraries, and drives
  • Maintaining guides and procedural documentation
  • Providing On-Call support for backup job failures, user restore needs, and tape, tape drive, and tape vaulting issues
  • Coordinating with the SAN Team to test and implement new backup requests
  • Scheduling/workload balancing, management of media, including the tape vaulting process and media management related activities
  • Participating in projects for new software/hardware implementation
  • Developing and executing new processes and procedures relating to backup utilities
  • Developing and administering Computer Operator training and training documentation relating to operational functions of backup utilities
