Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Jean Fowlds Consultancy. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing plant and equipment according to engineering specifications and safety standards.

Main Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain a safe and healthy working environment in the department.
  • Ensure asset availability conforms to agreed KPIs.
  • Maintain equipment in standard condition through asset management.
  • Manage maintenance budgets effectively.
  • Request consumable and critical spares, update, and verify inventory.
  • Conduct daily line inspections and repairs.
  • Perform PRAGMA inspections, ad-hoc breakdowns, and preventative maintenance.
  • Develop and execute shutdown action plans.
  • Act as a safety custodian for the area of responsibility and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Allocate resources for shutdown operations.
  • Undertake standby duties and respond to call-outs.
  • Ensure good housekeeping and adhere to OHS Act requirements.
  • Record and achieve set KPIs.
  • Reduce waste and eliminate non-essential activities.
  • Train the departmental maintenance team and process controllers.
  • Engage in rebuild and continuous improvement projects/initiatives.
  • Report unsafe acts and conditions to relevant authorities.
  • E nsure Process Controllers adhere to process control standards.
  • Maintain high standards in the plant and adhere to all safety rules and procedures.
Additional Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, fault-find, and repair equipment failures to minimize machine downtime.
  • Ensure test equipment is properly maintained.
  • Work shifts as per pre-planned rosters.
  • Implement planned maintenance schedules to required standards.
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of information for updating drawings.
  • Attend training sessions as necessary.
  • Cover for other multi-skilled artisans during leave, training, or sickness.
  • Install electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Collaborate with production personnel and engineering staff as needed.
  • Coach operators on best operating practices and autonomous maintenance tasks.
  • Promote suggestions for improvements within areas of operation.
  • Participate in shift-based teams, plant teams, and focus groups.
  • Report unsafe acts and conditions to appropriate management levels.
  • Compile shift reports and ensure proper handovers as per procedure.
  • Adhere to environmental policies and procedures regarding waste reduction, spill prevention, meeting environmental targets, complying with hazardous chemical procedures, and adhering to environmental laws.
  • Practice high levels of housekeeping in the workplace.
  • Investigate incidents (SHEQ) and identify root causes of non-conformities, correcting deviations accordingly.
  • Familiarize oneself with SHEQ requirements of the Section.
  • Address breakdowns involving electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation systems.
  • Determine faults in various fields, including electrical, mechanical fitting, PLCs, variable speed drives, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematic drawings.
  • Achieve competence in isolation and lock-out procedures.
  • Operate overhead cranes, electro-pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, basic instrumentation, and basic auto-electric equipment efficiently.
Requirements
  • Hold a Millwright Trade Test Certificate with Electrical specialisation.
  • Be computer literate.
  • Have experience with SAP spares ordering.
  • Exhibit sound mechanical skills and strong electrical knowledge.
  • Have PLC programming and fault-finding expertise.
  • Embody a hands-on approach and take pride in work performed.
  • Show total commitment to product quality.
  • Plan, organize, and control costs effectively.
  • Have at least 3 years' experience as an Artisan, with experience in maintenance within an electronic engineering environment.
  • Possess skills in programming and fault-finding.
  • Familiarize yourself with safety rules and regulations.
