Financial Management Specialist

**Job Overview**
Midvaal Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Financial Management Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our financial department, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations.
**Estimated Salary:** R450,000 - R550,000 per annum, depending on experience.
**Key Responsibilities:
- **Financial Record Maintenance**: Accurately record and manage all financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.
- **Financial Reporting**: Prepare detailed financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- **Budgeting and Forecasting**: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, analyzing financial data to provide insights and recommendations for cost-saving measures.
- **Payroll Management**: Process payroll accurately and on time, including tax calculations, benefit deductions, and compliance with labor laws.
- **Tax Preparation and Compliance**: Assist in the preparation of tax returns, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations. Liaise with external accountants for year-end tax filings.
- **Audit Preparation**: Prepare documentation and reports for internal and external audits, ensuring all financial records are accurate and up-to-date.
- **Reconciliation**: Perform complex reconciliations of accounts, including bank statements, credit card statements, and inter-company accounts.
- **Accounts Payable/Receivable**: Manage vendor and customer accounts, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- **Software Management**: Utilize advanced accounting software and tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage) to manage financial data and generate reports.
- **Cash Flow Management**: Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operations and strategic investments.
- **Financial Analysis**: Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas of improvement. Provide detailed reports to management for decision-making.
- **Compliance**: Ensure that all financial activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards (e.g., GAAP or IFRS).
- **Training and Mentoring**: Provide training and support to junior bookkeeping staff, ensuring accuracy and consistency in financial record-keeping.
**Requirements:**
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles, with a strong understanding of advanced accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage) and Microsoft Excel (advanced functions).
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing, tax regulations, and financial reporting.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage complex financial data and identify discrepancies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Certification in bookkeeping (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper, CPB) or accounting (e.g., CPA, CMA) is a plus.
