Overview:
RPO Recruitment is in search of two proficient Site Engineers dedicated to ensuring the successful execution of high-quality construction projects within established timelines and budget constraints. This role necessitates the coordination of all relevant stakeholders and the implementation of effective processes, practices, and solutions to maximize efficiency and manage costs throughout the construction phase.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Management:
    Proactively identify and address potential risks.
  • Develop risk assessments and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Focus on opportunities for cost reduction and risk mitigation.
  • Contribute to identifying and implementing mitigating actions.
  • Engage in peer reviews and both internal and external audits.
  • Planning and Organizing:
  • Apply construction programs and planning methodologies effectively.
  • Collaborate with the Site Agent and Planner to develop project schedules.
  • Ensure clear communication of program requirements.
  • Coordinate site preparation activities and implement work plans.
  • Strategically manage project execution, fostering teamwork between site office and on-site personnel.
  • Oversee and align procedures related to planning, costing, and contract management.
  • Manage ongoing work in accordance with contractual obligations, minimizing waste and overtime.
  • Project Execution:
  • Monitor and control overall progress, costs, quality, and safety compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to established quality standards.
  • Actively participate in cost control measures.
  • Effectively manage construction equipment and resources.
  • Enforce compliance with drawings and specifications to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Systematically coordinate work and identify cost-effective options for equipment usage.
  • Collaborate with the Client's Resident Engineer and Clerk of Works for timely inspections and quality approvals.
  • Address queries related to insufficient construction information provided by the professional team.
  • Submit and monitor sample and shop drawing approvals.
  • Prioritize and approve long lead items to prevent delays in on-site requirements.
  • Reporting:
  • Provide comprehensive management reports detailing key performance indicators, including both positive and negative variations.
  • Outline actions taken to mitigate impacts on project completion.
  • Assist in preparing Contract Reports.
  • Offer technical support to meet client expectations.
  • Maintain a daily site diary to compile information for review.
  • Update a delay diary to manage and control project scheduling aspects.

Qualifications:

  • BSc in Engineering or Construction Management relevant to the construction sector.
  • Professional Registration with SACPCMP.
  • 3-5 years of relevant on-site experience as a Site Engineer on significant building projects.

Compensation:
