About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Test Automation Architect to lead the development and implementation of an automated QA testing framework across Geotech. Your role will be crucial in standardising processes, selecting tools, and training QA engineers to maximise testing capabilities and ensure our software maintains the highest quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and Enhance QA Processes: Analyse existing QA frameworks, tools, and processes. Identify areas for improvement in QA planning, test automation, monitoring, and team productivity. Collaborate with the product manager to explore AI-powered QA tools and provide recommendations for implementation.
  • Establish a Standardised Framework: Work closely with QA and engineering teams to design and implement a standardised automated QA framework. Define supporting processes and select effective tools that align with Geotech's software development lifecycle.
  • Deployment and Refinement: Oversee the deployment of the new QA framework, manage a dedicated evaluation team, and develop training materials for QA teams. Conduct training sessions to guide teams in using the new framework and ensure a seamless transition.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Propose and refine QA process improvements, monitor their impact, and iterate as needed. Establish and track key metrics, such as system function coverage, test execution speed, and tester productivity.
  • Expand and Maintain QA Capabilities: Maintain the automated QA testing infrastructure and identify automation opportunities across software components (UI, backend, performance). Design and develop automation script frameworks, integrate scripts into the post-build process, and troubleshoot test build failures to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Knowledge Sharing and Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of best practices, including testing methodologies, tools, and techniques. Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and training to enhance the QA teams' expertise and promote a culture of continuous learning.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with software developers and QA analysts to improve regression tests, maintain open communication with team members and stakeholders, and provide updates on progress to ensure everyone is aligned with the project goals.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of practical experience as a QA Engineer or similar role, preferably with experience in test automation and a strong understanding of software development lifecycles.
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies is highly desirable, as is a proven track record of delivering high-quality automated testing solutions.
