Objective: Oversee quality assurance and control processes throughout the fabrication projects within the operational network, alongside related responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implementing Quality Assurance & Control protocols in accordance with ISO9001:2015 across various projects as necessary.
  • Promoting quality awareness and its significance among all personnel.
  • Conducting QC inspections prior to welding, including layout, fit-up, sub-assembly, and final assembly evaluations.
  • Executing QC inspections during the welding process, focusing on pre-heat, weld quality adherence, distortion checks, and NDT witnessing on critical welds.
  • Performing post-welding QC inspections, which include dimensional assessments of key components, weld inspections prior to NDT, and managing NDT arrangements and requests.
  • Carrying out final QC inspections after processes such as primer painting, including final evaluations before painting, product weighing, pre-shipment checks, and completing necessary checklists.
  • Conducting line-bore QC inspections, ensuring alignment with drawings, documenting critical dimensions, and performing workmanship assessments.
  • Reviewing miscellaneous acceptance inspections, including x-ray evaluations, small parts inspections, NDT and visual casting witnessing, and certifying welders.
  • Initiating new NDT requests and compiling NDT reports within the Galactus live system.
  • Gathering evidence and data for quality control documentation and data books.
  • Compiling photographic, pre-heat, customer, and line boring reports.
  • Logging CIP, CAR, and NCR issues as required, and managing ITP/QCP/SOW hold-point monitoring and sign-offs.
  • Coordinating third-party and client inspections, providing logistical support as needed.
  • Conducting in-house MT and PT inspections, documenting UT failures in the live system.
  • Performing internal and external audits, including certification and supplier audits.
  • Identifying manufacturing deficiencies, reporting anomalies, and recommending system improvements.
Education & Qualifications:
  • National Senior Certificate; Qualified Trade; minimum Level 1 Welding & Fabrication Inspector Certificate.

Knowledge & Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of welding and fabrication experience in a comparable role.
  • Ability to interpret design intent through drawings, blueprints, and engineering documents, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Advanced understanding of welding procedures and processes (FCAW/SAW/CO2 on Q&T plates).
  • Proficient in computer and mathematical skills, particularly with MS 365; comfortable using technology such as tablets and smartphones.
