Service Technician - Renewable Energy

A leading company in the renewable energy sector is seeking an experienced and dedicated Service Technician to join their team in Somerset East.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled service and maintenance on 66 Wind Turbine Generators and the Electrical Balance of the Plant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out daily reporting to the Lead Supervisor and Service Manager.
  • Ensure the company meets its contractual obligations, focusing on maintaining availability and key performance indicators.
  • Prevent and limit failures on the turbines, encouraging colleagues to do the same.
  • Minimize daily work expenses.
  • Proactively report potential improvements and innovations to the Lead Supervisor and Service Manager.
  • Optimize availability, reliability, and sustainable performance of the facility.
  • Optimize daily tasks to achieve the best possible team efficiency and minimize expenses.
  • Manage and minimize overtime costs.
  • Maintain a good work environment for employees.
  • Ensure compliance with safety instructions and local legislation (HS&E).
  • Manage spare parts stock and logistics.
  • Participate in relevant courses and meetings, with potential travel involved.
  • Coordinate work with contractors and customers.
  • Manage daily tasks, including coordination and delegation.
  • Prepare timesheets, including reports on consumed spare parts, errors, and consumables.
Requirements:
  • Millwright, Electrical, or Mechanical background (bachelor level).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in service/maintenance of electrical/mechanical equipment.
  • Computer and software skills for data collection and reporting, especially within MS Office.
