Housing Justice Advocate

Shore Legal Access is a Maryland-based nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting individuals and families in need of legal representation with volunteer attorneys. Our mission is to ensure that justice is accessible to all, regardless of their economic or social status.

We are seeking a passionate and compassionate attorney to join our team as a Housing Justice Advocate. This role will involve providing direct legal assistance to tenants facing housing instability, including counseling, advice, document preparation, negotiation, and representation in judicial litigation.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to public service, excellent writing, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary setting. Prior experience in landlord/tenant law, foreclosure, consumer debt, bankruptcy, and/or expungements is preferred but not required.

As a Housing Justice Advocate, you will play a vital role in helping to expand tenant counsel throughout the Eastern Shore. You will manage a full caseload of eviction prevention cases, including failure to pay rent, tenant holding over, breach of lease, and related landlord/tenant matters.
