Job Title: Operations Director for Animal Feed Manufacturing

At AFGRI Equipment, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Director to oversee the daily operations of our animal feed manufacturing plant in Gauteng. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as a deep understanding of the animal feed industry.

About the Role:
  • This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading player in the animal feed industry and take on a challenging and rewarding role.
  • You will be responsible for managing day-to-day production activities, including planning, directing, and coordinating the work activities and resources to manufacture products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications.
  • Maintaining on-time deliveries while avoiding excess labor and inefficiencies is crucial to your success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage staff and staffing levels to ensure efficient operation of the facility.
  • Work closely with procurement to maintain and control inventory levels.
  • Ensure profitability of products through proper manufacturing methods and lean manufacturing.
  • Support and enforce the company's quality system and practices.
  • Operate the facility under company and legislative requirements relating to health and safety guidelines.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience as a manager in an animal feed manufacturing or milling environment.
  • Relevant tertiary degree or qualification in finance, agriculture, or engineering.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a solution-driven approach.
  • Planning and organizing skills, with a strategic mindset.
  • Excellent communication and conflict management skills.
