About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Accountant to join our team at DNV. As a key member of our Global Finance organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity and compliance of our operations in the Middle East and Africa region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage all statutory reporting and compliance for our African legal entities, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Drive standardization of accounting processes and transaction recording, collaborating with our Global Shared Services center to achieve consistency and efficiency.
  • Develop and implement a standardized chart of accounts and cost center structure for our legal entities, ensuring alignment with Group accounting standards.
  • Work closely with Business Controllers and GSS to standardize daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reporting, providing insights and recommendations for business improvement.
  • Monitor share capital development and dividends, ensuring compliance with equity rules and dividend payment regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with Group accounting standards, International Accounting Standards, statutory, and tax rules, providing guidance and support to our teams.
  • Oversee tax compliance, support tax reviews, and prepare tax reports and calculations for annual group and statutory accounts.
  • Coordinate and facilitate internal control matters, ensuring effective risk management and compliance.
  • Prepare companies for internal control visits and participate in Group Internal Control visits, providing expertise and guidance.
  • Main contact point for general accounting processes and group reporting, including providing input on specific accruals and provisions, intercompany invoicing, investments, and asset reviews.
  • Take active steps to reconcile and pay all intercompany balances, adhering to GSS Finance goals and KPIs, and considering local exchange control regulations.
  • Act as the main contact point for auditors and outsourcing partners, including tax advisors and local accounting service providers.
  • Perform cash management tasks for the legal entity, including opening Group Treasury-approved bank accounts, closing previous bank accounts, and ensuring bank reconciliations are up to date.
Requirements
  • Professional Accounting qualification – Chartered Accountant South Africa CA(SA), or equivalent.
  • Educational degree in Finance.
  • 5 years of experience working as a Finance or Compliance Manager.
  • Experience in a global Finance organization in an international company, with a good understanding of key business processes across functional areas.
  • Experience working in Oracle is an advantage.
