About the Role

The Talent Room is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Logistics Manager to join our team. As a key member of our supply chain team, you will be responsible for managing the dispatch and shipping-related functions, ensuring that finished goods arrive at customers on time and in full.

This role will report to the Continuous Improvements Department and will work closely with the Channel Manager to optimize duties and consignment stock opportunities. You will be responsible for managing actual vs budgeted distribution costs, working capital levels, and identifying opportunities to load containers more effectively and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set and manage relevant outbound supplier agreements to ensure optimal customer service while managing working capital and budget requirements.
  • Manage actual vs budgeted distribution costs in line with targets, ensuring that costs are optimized and customer service is maintained.
  • Manage working capital levels including consignment warehouse stock to achieve targets without compromising on customer service.
  • Identify and implement savings to achieve exceptional returns on budgeted spend, ensuring that costs are minimized and efficiency is maximized.
  • Identify opportunities to load containers more effectively and efficiently, ensuring that shipping deadlines are met and customs and remote challenges are addressed.
  • Manage the outbound team in line with Key Performance Areas, ensuring that team members are motivated and working towards common goals.
Requirements
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant field, such as Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
  • 3+ years of experience in freight forwarding and shipping, with a focus on multinational roles and experience shipping into Africa, Australasia, and America.
  • Good working relationships with freight forwarding agents and a solid understanding of freight forwarding regulations and requirements.
  • Solid understanding of outbound ERP systems and knowledge of applicable customs and duty regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels within the organization and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead outbound suppliers to improve performance and effectiveness, including the ability to influence through effective communication and diplomacy.
  • Ability to compile and make presentations at external sites to senior management level.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions based on judgment and integrity.
  • Ability to work effectively and independently with others to accomplish goals in a challenging environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and a strong drive to deliver work of an exceptional standard despite time pressure and constraints.
  • Strong ethical framework and integrity and good oral and written communication skills.
  • High levels of self-motivation and accountability, with a strong ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • General office environment with onsite visits to overseas facilities requiring travel to foreign locations approximately 10% of the time.
