Job Description

As a FET Phase English Home Language Educator, you will be responsible for driving student achievement by maintaining high expectations for classroom culture, behaviour, and academic growth for all scholars.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, teach, and co-teach face-to-face and distance lessons for academic and clubs purposes, delivering high-quality learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with grade-level and content-area partners to develop and implement rigorous, engaging learning experiences and individualised behaviour and learning plans.
  • Participate in scheduled professional development sessions and actively contribute to the growth and development of our scholars.
  • Develop and administer formative and termly assessments to track student progress and analyse data for growth and improvement.
  • Lead scholar social and emotional development through CQ (Character Quotient) sessions and reflections.
  • Plan, deliver, and monitor programmes to support low-performing scholars or extend high-performing scholars.
  • Participate in place-based education and career and tertiary pathways education to support scholar culture and character development.
  • Develop and implement behaviour management strategies to foster a positive learning environment.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with colleagues, parents, and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • English language fluency
  • Completed B.Ed or PGCE degree in English Home Language and Life Orientation FET
  • 2-3 years of high school teaching experience, preferably 1-2 years teaching Grade 11-12
  • SACE registration
  • Clear/Clean criminal record
