Job Description:

As a Senior Accountant at Intercape, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial stability and growth of our company. This position is responsible for reconciliations, account management, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts per entity timeously and accurately.
  • Ensure all accounting journals are reviewed by the financial manager and filed with supporting documentation.
  • Resolve related party discrepancies and ensure inventory balances agree with monthly stock counts.
  • Review bank and petty cash reconciliations bi-weekly and finance leases weekly.
  • Clear control and suspense accounts daily and reconcile payroll-related costs to external reports.
  • Intercompany balances and transactions should be reconciled, and discrepancies resolved promptly.
  • Process depreciation on fixed assets according to accounting policy and review expense and fixed asset accounts monthly for reallocations.
  • Inform management of unresolved issues or discrepancies that may impact the business.
  • Ensure management accounts provide an accurate reflection of monthly business results.
  • Assist bookkeepers and other staff with clearing queries on control accounts and training juniors on correct allocations.
  • Review journals processed by junior accountants and bookkeepers and assist with external and internal auditor queries.

Requirements:
  • A Grade 12 qualification or higher.
  • A relevant financial qualification is an advantage.
