We are seeking an experienced Senior Electronics Hardware Design Engineer to join our team in Durban, KZN. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing advanced schematic diagrams for telematics hardware and vehicle recovery systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designing and developing advanced schematic diagrams for telematics hardware and vehicle recovery systems
  • Crafting high-speed PCB layouts for GPS, RF antennas, and multi-layer HDI PCBs (up to 8 layers)
  • Leading the creation and maintenance of the Bill of Materials (BOM) for all electronics components
  • Designing test equipment to validate hardware functionality for fleet management solutions
  • Contributing to the development of basic mechanical hardware for injection-moulded POCs related to electronics
  • Collaborating with engineering teams to integrate hardware with telematics platforms, vehicle tracking systems, and recovery technologies
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A National Diploma or BSc. in Electronic Engineering
  • At least 10 years of experience in electronics hardware design, with a focus on automotive or fleet management systems
  • Strong expertise in integrating hardware for telematics, GPS, and communication technologies
  • Experience with CE approval and compliance standards
  • Basic firmware knowledge for 8 and 32-bit microprocessors is a bonus
  • Proficiency in PSpice for circuit analysis and Altium Designer for PCB layout
  • Familiarity with audio/video stream processing for telematics systems
