Job Title: Director of Platform Engineering


About the Role:


We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Director of Platform Engineering to lead our platform engineering team in building a scalable payment system for global merchants expanding into Africa.


This is an exciting opportunity for a technical leader who is passionate about building transformative platforms in high-growth, high-impact markets. As a key member of our leadership team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create a clear technology vision that aligns with our business objectives and market demands.

Responsibilities:



  • Lead the development of a scalable payments platform to support global merchants expanding into Africa.
  • Create and execute a technology roadmap that addresses the unique needs of merchants entering this dynamic market.
  • Develop solutions that simplify multi-currency transactions, cross-border payments, and integration with local payment providers.
  • Partner with product, sales, and operations teams to ensure the platform supports the needs of merchants entering Africa.
  • Leverage data to continuously optimise platform performance and ensure high transaction success rates.

Requirements:


To succeed in this role, you will need:



  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Engineering Manager.
  • Experience utilising React, Next.js, C# (.NET), Terraform, Docker, and AWS.
  • Hands-on experience leading a team of 10 or more individuals.
  • Deep payment product experience, ideally in payment businesses requiring high-volume and low-latency platform architectures.
  • Deep experience leading teams on large-scale platform engineering projects.
  • Able to represent the company at industry events and comfortable discussing payments and technology trends.
