As a Senior Airport Civil Engineer, you will form part of the South African Aviation team and work closely with colleagues in Airport Asset Design based in the Netherlands. With your background and knowledge in civil engineering, you will lead our Airports civil team while having the opportunity to develop your experience in consultancy services within the aviation profession.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing Airside Civil Engineering and Project Management solutions for our clients
  • Addressing individual aspects and/or specific systems
  • Assisting in the provision of project solutions in a multi-disciplinary environment and airport operational processes

In this position, you will have the opportunity to work on projects worldwide and take on various roles such as:

  • Discipline lead in design projects and take responsibility for project results and deliverables
  • Develop engineering solutions
  • Help expand our capabilities
  • Project manage medium to large scale multi-disciplinary projects
  • Business development
  • Assist in other Airport Civil Engineering related consultancy services

Key tasks as part of the Civil Engineering team include:

  • Responsible for 2D/3D geometrical design modelling work of civil airport infrastructure (e.g. runways, taxiways, aprons, earthworks, drainage, etc.) according to international airport codes and standards (ICAO)
  • Carry out associated calculations for input into the design reports, specifications and the bills of quantities
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary design teams within BIM environment, assist with BIM model coordination using CDE platforms and tools such as Asite, Vault and BIM360
  • On project level operate as an integral member of the design team and interact with other discipline designers, such as pavements and airside systems
  • Collaborate on the automation of design processes and development of 3D design tools
  • In the Aviation Team co-operate with and share knowledge with other designers

To be successful in this role, you should bring:

  • Experience working in multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams spread across different countries
  • A Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant qualification from a recognised institution
  • A post-graduate qualification is preferable
  • Professional registration (PrEng/PrTech/PMP) is preferable
  • 12 or more years work experience in consulting engineering, as a designer/modeller in infrastructure projects such as roads, pavements and drainage
  • Minimum 8 years specific experience in contract administration and project management
  • An affinity for the civil engineering design with some experience/exposure in aviation preferred
  • Proficiency in 3D computer aided design (CAD) software, including Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel and Programming using Dynamo, Python etc. will be advantageous
  • Proven track record in business development and success in generating business from public and private sectors with an understanding of both environments
  • Management experience at a strategic and operational level, with a sound knowledge of financial and project management concepts

The estimated annual salary for this role is around $120,000-$180,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
