Key Accountabilities

  • Drive operational excellence, ensuring quality standards adherence across all aspects.
  • Provide visionary leadership to achieve product output quality, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Develop and implement strategies for operational efficiency optimization, ensuring cost-effective operations and efficient cash flow management.
  • Build and manage a high-performing team to support packhouse operations, including logistics management.
  • Ensure high health and safety standards within the facility.
  • Maintain compliance with industry quality assurance standards and meet specifications required by local and export customers.
  • Procure packaging materials according to customer specifications.
  • Optimize packhouse equipment and technologies for maximum productivity.
  • Liaise with producers and the group management team, reporting regularly on key performance indicators.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their needs and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of export programs, ensuring compliance with international standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in logistics, BCom degree business management, Food Science, or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in managing perishable packhouse operations and/or warehousing or coldstore facilities.
  • Proven track record of achieving targets through effective leadership and management.
  • Proficient IT skills, including experience with information systems relevant to packhouse operations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively at all levels.
  • Strong numerical and planning abilities, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience with quality systems such as HACCP, BRC, ISO, or similar standards.
  • Willingsness to work overtime and weekends as required by operational needs.
