Senior Legal Advisor - Regulatory Affairs

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Advisor to join our client's regulatory affairs team.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with local and international laws and standards regarding market abuse, conflicts of interest, market conduct, and employee compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Conducting regular audits and risk assessments.
  • Providing expert advice on compliance laws, rules, and standards.
  • Collaborating with the CEO and Board of Directors to ensure effective programme implementation.
  • Reporting on programme progress and identifying areas for improvement.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB) and admitted Attorney in the High Court of South Africa.
  • 8-10 years of experience in strategic and senior management functions.
  • 5+ years of experience in Compliance Risk Management and Company Secretarial Practice within a corporate legal department in the mining industry or a reputable law firm.
  • Proven ability to execute effectively against strategy and exceed goals consistently.
  • Membership of the South African law society or professional institute.
  • Certifications in corporate governance or company secretarial practices are an added advantage.
  • Regulatory knowledge of the mining industry.
  • Legislative knowledge of the laws governing mining.
  • ESG, social impact, and sustainability framework.
