Furnace Operator

Samancor Chrome seeks a skilled Furnace Operator - Smelting and Casting Specialist to join its team in Limpopo.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, where you will be responsible for safely preparing the tap floor and auxiliaries, as well as tapping the furnace to recover molten product.

• Prepare the tapfloor and auxiliaries for tapping molten material.
• Tap the furnace to recover the smelted product.
• Maintain the taphole with the rodding car/bar.
• Close the taphole by means of a mud gun or manually.
• Direct the operation of an overhead crane.
• Cast molten metal to effect solidification.
• Take metal and slag samples.
• Update the Tapping log sheets and the MES system.

• Grade 12/N3 qualification.
• At least 1 year's experience in furnace/smelter operations.
