Accounting Senior Specialist

We are partnering with an established company based in Port Elizabeth to recruit a Senior Accountant on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing of accounting records onto a computerised accounting system resulting in an accurate and complete set of books as well as liaising with clients directly and supervising and training junior and intermediate accountants.

Some of the duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Initiating the processing of client information receipts, sales invoices, purchase invoices
  • Carrying out bank reconciliations
  • Processing and reconciling of Petty Cash and cash control accounts
  • Maintaining a fixed asset register
  • General journals – e.g., depreciation, provisions, interest, salaries, stock, etc.
  • Process journal entries e.g., new instalment sale agreements, interest on borrowings, provisions, accruals of income and expenses, bad debts etc.
  • Reconcile debtors and creditors statements
  • Analysis the resulting trial balance for mistakes / deviations and be able to discuss the results with the client.
  • Calculation of PAYE/UIF/SDL levies and VAT.
  • Completion of statutory returns e.g., UIF/SDL/PAYE/VAT.
  • Liaise with client re payment of the above returns.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Matric with Accounting at a Higher Grade
  • BCom degree or equivalent degree with Accounting III and taxation
  • Completed SAIPA articles or SAICA articles
  • Six years of relevant accounting experience
  • Experience in Pastel, CaseWare and Xero
